Ernest Joyner

Managing Director of the Colorado Office

Ernest currently serves as the Managing Director of the Colorado Office of Perkins&Will, a global architecture firm with 2,500 employees and thirty studios in nine countries.  He has led the design of more than six million square feet of projects in twenty-one states and three countries.

Ernest leads projects in many market sectors including Science, Technology, Heath Care, Aviation, and especially Sports. He has a lifelong passion for sports, recreation, wellness, and heath and has presented at conferences and seminars nationwide, authored dozens of articles, and lectured at the University of Colorado, the University of Oregon, and Portland State University. His notable projects include Red Rocks Visitor’s Center, The Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Magness Arena at the University of Denver, Paycom Center (home of the OKC Thunder), and twenty recreation centers all over Colorado.

Ernest holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Washington and Lee University and graduated cum laude with a Master of Architecture from Clemson University.  He also completed the graduate program at the Daniels Center for Architectural Studies in Genoa, Italy.

Ernest has volunteered with many organizations including AIA Colorado (President), Architectural Education Foundation (President), Beacon Manor Affordable Housing (President), Reach Community Development, and HAND Neighborhood Association.

Ernest resides in Elizabeth, Colorado with his wife Hailley, his son Gates, two dogs and two horses.  He loves living in Colorado and being outside as much as possible, skiing, biking, kayaking, and fishing.
