Colorado Business Roundtable has found its new president, selecting marketing and communications veteran Debbie Brown to lead the organization beginning next month. Brown, who has launched a number of businesses, most recently has served as CEO of Amplify Strategies, the strategic-planning company that she founded. Before that she launched Catapult Colorado, a network of female leaders dedicated to electing pro-business women to office, and was involved heavily in the Colorado Women's Alliance. 

Colorado's iconic landscapes are a part of who we are as a state. They are essential for our economy and our lifestyle, for clean water and for wildlife, and so much more. For decades, Colorado's elected leaders have worked together on a bipartisan basis to protect our public lands so that future generations can continue to recreate and live off the land. That work continues today: Colorado's U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse have introduced the Colorado Outdoor Recreation & Economy (CORE) Act, which passed the U.S. House on Oct. 31, and Colorado U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton has circulated and held listening sessions on a draft bill, the Colorado Recreation Enhancement and Conservation (REC) Act, that would protect many of the same areas in the CORE Act that are located in his district. 
Colorado Budget: Then and Now presents a big picture view of how spending by the state of Colorado has changed over the past 20 years. Leading into the 2020 legislative session, it is important to be aware of the history of spending and the entirety of the budget, along with a focus on singular issues. These charts should prompt more "Why?" questions and help frame the perpetual debate that shapes the priorities of our state government spending. 
House Democrats and the Trump administration have reached an agreement to move forward with the White House's replacement for the North American Free Trade Agreement. top Democrats said Tuesday. The two sides had worked for more than a year to resolve Democratic concerns about enforcement tools for labor and environmental standards under the new deal, known as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement. House Democrats, President Donald Trump, top Senate Republicans and labor leaders all cited progress toward a deal this week. 

Colorado agriculture is cheered by the likelihood of a new U.S. trade deal with Canada and Mexico, predicting the pact will help beef and other farm exports. Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives threw support behind the trade deal Tuesday, making farmers and ranchers optimistic the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement will soon pass. "The agreement between the Trump administration and House Democrats on the terms of USMCA is the most welcome news Colorado farmers and ranchers have had in a long time," said Don Shawcroft, president of the Colorado Farm Bureau. 

The Colorado Workforce Development Council today released its annual Colorado Talent Pipeline Report, which analyzes issues related to the supply and demand of talent in Colorado and recommends strategies to support economic prosperity in every corner of Colorado. The Colorado economy continues to thrive in the midst of steady job growth and 2.6 percent unemployment. However, questions regarding the timing of the next recession and the transition of the economy to a new future of work are common. Colorado is still experiencing a skills gap that must be closed to support future prosperity. Partners of the talent development network are focused on ensuring all Coloradans have access to career-connected education and training to prepare them for the future of work. 

The actuary that was hired to conduct the actuarial analysis of a paid state-administered family leave program for Colorado has submitted his final report to the Family & Medical Leave Task Force. The actuary was asked by the Task Force to cost out a "low benefit model" with Cadillac-type paid benefits.
