LEADERSHIP. REACH. RESULTS.
Gov. Jared Polis delivered his second State of the State address as governor Thursday, speaking of those left behind by Colorado's stampeding economy. "From student loans to health care costs to unaffordable housing, Coloradans feel like they are running faster and faster, but not getting ahead," Polis said in his speech. "Too many of our fellow Coloradans are anxious that one hardship - a job loss, a medical emergency, a recession, a natural disaster, or some other unforeseen challenge - will send them into a financial tailspin. There is a generation of older Americans who wonder when or even if they will be able to retire with dignity."

Gloria Schoch, former community affairs senior manager at Molson Coors, has landed an executive position at Denver-based VF Corp. Schoch has been named director, VF Foundation & Global Impact by the Fortune 500 outdoor-apparel giant that moved its headquarters from North Carolina to the Mile High City last year.

In the role, Schoch will "oversee and implement the VF Foundation's strategic vision to support nonprofit organizations that drive movements of sustainable and active lifestyles, including movements that enable conservation and stewardship, education and workforce development, and the advancement of human and organizational endeavors in the context of inclusion, equity and diversity," according to a release.

Twenty-three years ago, as a college graduate in Delhi, I lined up at the U.S. embassy hoping to have my student visa approved. That visa changed my life forever. I'd enrolled in a computer science master's program at the University of Denver, thinking that an American education coupled with post-graduate work experience in the states would prepare me for a career back home. But I never left. As it turned out, that package deal - study and work - allowed me to become a CTO and serial entrepreneur in the U.S., creating hundreds of jobs for Americans.
