Colorado Secondary Business Education Advisory Meeting

This advisory committee will focus on the development of a Next-Gen Business Education Program for secondary students that interconnects post-secondary. Focusing collaboratively on the competencies and core strategies of the program to better prepare our high school students for the next level of business education and the workforce. We are working with a consultant from the National Center for College and Career Transitions, as well as Colorado workforce development to help with this process.

In November, we held a meeting of secondary, community colleges, and four-year universities. We had over 30 business educators in the room to help define a “core” pathway for business education at the high school level. It was a great meeting of minds with tremendous collaboration and data outcomes. 

Our next step is to take this data to a state Business advisory board, which is our current charge. We are planning to have a meeting of business partners on Tuesday, February 6th from 7:30 am - 9:30 am. This meeting will have a specific detailed agenda, with a purpose of defining and vetting the work from our educator’s meeting. The commitment from an advisory member will be this breakfast meeting, a possible phone conference, and follow-up email surveys.
