The new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement is the largest trade-deal in American history and is a big win for companies, farmers, shippers and workers throughout the country. This trade agreement directly attacks the colossal $81.5 billion trade-deficit in goods this United States has with Mexico, and the $19.7 billion trade deficit in goods with Canada. While many Americans are unaware of the specifics of the deal, the details - and their implications for American companies - are stunning. USMCA eliminates many practices and trade barriers that have long hindered U.S. companies' across to the Mexican and Canadian markets.
Denver leaders plan on proposing a citywide minimum wage increase to $15 by 2021. Mayor Michael Hancock and Councilwoman Robin Kniech said in a release Wednesday that they will be making a minimum wage announcement Thursday. Spokeswoman Theresa Marchetta confirmed that the proposal is for approximately $15 a hour by 2021, though the final number could be more or less. She added there will be incremental changes in the wage up to that point.
An ongoing effort to develop a public-option health-insurance plan for Colorado could imperil thousands of jobs in the health-care industry or take hundreds of millions of dollars out of the state's economy if it relies on capping reimbursements for providers in a significant way, according to a study released.

In a letter to congressional leaders on Tuesday, 51 Business Roundtable CEOs called for passage of a national data privacy law to protect U.S. consumers and encourage innovation and economic growth. "We urgently need a comprehensive federal consumer data privacy law to strengthen consumer trust and establish a stable policy environment where new services and technologies can flourish within a well-understood legal and regulatory framework," states the letter, signed by CEOs representing key sectors of the economy. The letter reaffirms the principles Business Roundtable detailed in itsFramework for Consumer Privacy Legislation.
NASA will test a Boulder company's in-orbit navigation technology using a small satellite experiment meant to help return U.S. astronauts to the moon in 2024. Advanced Space won a $13.7 million NASA contract to develop a satellite the size of small microwave oven that will be used to try out the company's automated spacecraft positioning software. The satellite also will test the unusual, highly elliptical orbit in which NASA plans to place a lunar outpost where spacecraft will dock before astronauts descend to the moon.
JPMorgan Chase invested $630,000 to three Colorado nonprofit organizations that are supporting Denver's undeserved entrepreneurs and small business community. The investment was part of this week's Denver Startup Week, of which JP Morgan Chase is a title sponsor.
