State Business Roundtable Executive Conference
Hosted by Colorado Business Roundtable
Lower tax rates for businesses and fewer income tax rates for individuals. Those are just some of the highlights of the Republican plan for tax reform that was unveiled last week.

Washington - Business Roundtable today issued the following statement regarding the release of the "Big Six" Unified Tax Reform Framework, which includes key elements for economic growth - a globally competitive corporate tax rate of 20 percent and a shift toward a territorial tax system:

Jamie Dimon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Chairman of Business Roundtable: "Today's announcement is an encouraging step forward in our shared goal of a tax system that delivers higher economic growth, job creation and wages that our country desperately needs. Congress must act with urgency on this framework and move the legislative process forward. Congress and the Administration are committed to tax reform, and business leaders are equally committed to pushing beyond our parochial interests to achieve a result that benefits th economy and America workers.

The Colorado Smart Cities Alliance, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the United States, officially launched Monday September 25, 2017. The statewide, multi-jurisdictional, public-private coalition aims to make Colorado a leader in the development of intelligent, 21st century infrastructure, improving everything from transportation and housing to public safety and the environment for the state's 5.5-plus million residents.
Jamie Dimon is know for being outspoken - not that the chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase & CO. doesn't have second thoughts about speaking out sometimes.

"I worry sometimes it may come back to bite me," the man who runs the nation's biggest bank told me Monday. But I think it's a mistake to think that somehow business is not allowed to have a voice at all."

Denver Startup Week, the largest free entrepreneurial event of its kind in North America, announced today that more than 17,500 people have registered to attend more than 350 programs, a new milestone to continue to solidify the sixth annual event as the largest free entrepreneurial event in North America.

"Denver Startup Week is truly a celebration of everything entrepreneurial in Denver, and we continue to reinforce that Downtown Denver is the best place in the country to start and grow a business. The strength in numbers we see at Denver Startup Week is a high-impact showcase of the generosity of our entrepreneurial ecosystem and thriving culture of innovation and entrepreneurship." - Erik Mitisek, president at IMAgine Analytics

If Dish Network co-founder Charlie Ergen could turn back time and give his much-younger self advice, he would tell himself to use sandbags to stabilize a trailer that delivered the first giant satellite dish to a Pagosa Springs customer in 1980.

But had he done that, Ergen wouldn't have one of the better stories of any entrepreneur to share with Denver Startup Week attendees Tuesday night when Ergen made a rare public appearance alongside Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Boulder venture capitalist Brad Feld.

Please join us on December 7th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm in helping recognize leaders in Colorado and come listen to our keynote speaker, Jim Clifton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gallup, discuss his view of business collaboration. Early bird registration is available for the awards luncheon until October 15th.
Colorado's talent development network must accelerate its shift to competency-based, work-based career pathways for critical occupations. We have proven Colorado to be a peak collaborator when all key players convene at a shared table. This Summit is where we will take the best practices already in place and create clearly defined next steps to expand their adoption across all partners throughout the state. Together, we can strengthen the talent development network, accelerating work-based learning through industry-led, competency-based hiring, education, and training.

Join talentFOUND on October 15th, 10:00 am to October 17th, 1:00 pm in Keystone, CO.
Join corporate leaders and energy experts to learn how businesses are using clean energy to cut costs and manage risk. Businesses throughout the U.S. are turning to clean energy to cut electricity costs and hedge against increasing demand rates. For many businesses, electricity prices represent a significant overhead cost category. The average U.S. office building spends more than $30,000 annually on energy, including gas. Increasilty, corporates are deploying clean energy solutions to manage risk and provide predictable, long-term energy pricing.

The Clean Energy Means Business Corporate Summit, presented by the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association (COSEIA), will bring together leaders in the business community and clean energy experts from throughout the Mountain West to collaborate and share insights on corporate clean energy development. In this two-day event you will learn the latest innovative strategies for effectively managing energy costs with clean energy solutions.

Today there are close to 9,000 youth in the Denver metro area who are talented and motivated, but lack the opportunity and support to reconnect to school and work. Generally 16 to 24 years old, they're called opportunity youth. We call them tomorrow's business leaders and innovators. We've all faced challenges in our career - and always had someone to lend a hand. At the Denver Opportunity Youth Initiative we help young adults overcome those challenges. And we connect employers with these talented youth.
