In a new consumer satisfaction survey, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. soared while Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. stayed the same. The two Colorado restaurant chains were recently ranked in the latest American Customer Satisfaction (ACSI) Index, which is a 100-point scale. Greenwood Village-based Red Robin scored the biggest increase of all the restaurant chains that were ranked. 

Congested and deteriorating roads are costing Colorado drivers $7.1 billion a year in lost time and productivity, needed repairs and crash-related expenses, according to a study released on Thursday. Backers of proposed sales-tax hike to fund transportation needs latched immediately onto the study from TRIP, a Washington D.C.-based transportation research organization that advocates for safety and increased efficiency. Mike Fitzgerald, president and CEO of the Denver South Economic Development Partnership, said after a news conference that the research clearly show that more work is needed than can be funded with the state's existing resources.

The administration's new tariffs threaten to spark a global trade war. Canada, Mexico, the EU, and China have already retaliated or announced plans to retaliate with billions of dollars in tariffs on American-made products. 

The Geeks Have Spoken: Among Amazon HQ2 Contenders, Denver Is No. 4
Amazon.com Inc. truly cares what techies think. It must if it's going to attract 50,000 workers to a second headquarters in the coming decade. The location of the so-called HQ2 is paramount, so here's another thing that may factor into the decision-making at Amazon's Seattle headquarters: Raleigh, N.C., came in first in a survey of more than 2,000 readers of GeekWire.com. Atlanta was second, Austin was third and Denver was fourth. 

'Workforce Wednesday' Series Continues Highlighting CEO, Company Work On Skills
Business Roundtable added to its "Workforce Wednesday" blog series in June, publishing new CEO commentaries about how best to improve workforce skills to serve employers, employees and the U.S. economy. The series is posted at the Business Roundtable Blog and is available on Twitter via the #WorkforceWednesday hashtag. The following posts were added in June:

Technology's main trade group in Colorado has new leadership after nearly four months of an executive search. The Colorado Technology Association has appointed Frannie Matthews, a veteran IBM sales executive, to run the industry association. She expressed excitement at the opportunity to use CTA's ability to harness its hundreds of members companies to support the technology industry. 

Chipotle Mexican Grill's closure of its Denver headquarters will impact 399 employees and was caused by "certain changes in business model and organization," Marissa Andrada, Chipotle Mexican Grill's chief human resources officer confirmed in an official letter to the state of Colorado.
