Dan Haley, President & CEO, Colorado Oil & Gas Association

Inner Circle Q&A

What book have you given or recommended the most?
If you want to understand Colorado politics, I often recommend that people read “The Blueprint” by Adam Schrager and Rob Witwer. Published in 2010, it’s still very relevant. To understand geo-politics, read “G Zero: Every Nation for Itself” by Ian Bremmer.

How would you describe your leadership style?
Collaborative, strategic and empathetic. To me, leadership is vision and strategy, and effectively communicating that vision and strategy to your team and other stakeholders. As a leader, I want my team invested in our strategy and vision, and that’s often best achieved through collaboration and listening. I also think leaders have an obligation to develop a positive attitude and inspire others around them to do great things. Good leaders, whether they’re parents, coaches or office managers, care about people and create an emotional connection through positive words. That connection is what makes people: Lead the way.
