Wings Over The Rockies Gala

Each year Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum holds our Spreading Wings Gala – a fundraiser to celebrate the air and space industry and honor key people that have made a meaningful impact.  We have been fortunate to have had many significant honorees over the years, such as Flight for Life Colorado in 2017.  Others include the Apollo 13 Astronauts and NASA flight director Gene Kranz, pilots Sean Tucker, Patty Wagstaff, Harrison Ford, Buzz Aldrin, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, and the Tuskegee Airmen.

This year we have chosen Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper as its honoree this year and we could not be prouder.

Besides being the Co-chair of our capital campaign for our second site at Centennial Airport, Governor Hickenlooper has helped usher in an era of robust economic expansion for the Colorado aerospace industry.  According to the Colorado Office of Economic and International Trade (OEDIT), Colorado is first in the nation in private aerospace employment, is home to the highest NASA prime contract awards in the nation, and is home to well over 400 aerospace companies, from global economic leaders to start-ups.  Our national legacy as an aerospace state has been strengthened and emboldened under Governor Hickenlooper’s leadership and support and we are thrilled to honor him, especially since The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has just granted a Spaceport Site Operator License to Adams County near Front Range Airport after a 180-day review period, the 11th such license granted in the United States.

We hope that you will support us in honoring Governor John Hickenlooper at our Spreading Wings Gala on November 8, 2018.  Your participation in this event will help Wings continue its mission to educate and inspire people of all ages about aviation and space endeavors of the past, present, and future.
