International Business Grant Information Session

The LEADING EDGE for International Opportunities program provides an educational pathway for small and medium-sized minority and women-owned businesses, equipping those businesses with the knowledge and tools to develop a strategic plan for export markets. The program is a combined effort between the Colorado Small Business Development Center, the Minority Business Office (MBO), International Trade Office and the World Trade Center.

PROGRAM DETAILS
• Includes 48 hours of WTC courses available in-person or via recorded webinar, providing valuable information for small
businesses on all aspects of international trade
• Participants will receive 5 hours of complimentary SBDC consulting hours
• Receive a WTC export certificate and attendance to its annual meeting
• Grants capped at $10,000 per business to cover costs associated with export projects, activities, or services undertaken
• A committee formed by the involved agencies is aiding in the selection of grant awardees, as well as providing subsequent
local and international consulting to grant recipients
• A mid-year progress report and a final report will need to be filed with the MBO through the grant cycle
• Grant applications will be accepted through March 31, 2016 (Late acceptance will be approved based on individual exceptions)
• Grants may be used for international business development and marketing projects including client development, foreign trade
shows and conferences, trade missions, foreign business-to-business matchmaking services, targeted overseas advertising and more

BUSINESS ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
• Employs less than 100 employees globally
• Headquartered in Colorado or at least 50% of its employees are based in Colorado
• Registered and in good standing with the Colorado Secretary of State
• Ownership is 51% minority or women-owned, who has primary responsibility for managing day-to-day operations
