Citizens For Space Exploration Fly-In

Citizens For Space Exploration Fly-In

This year Citizens for Space Exploration will be traveling to Washington, D.C. for the 27th time, and this year could not be more critical.  It has been proposed that NASA should defund the International Space Station (ISS) by 2025.  The same ISS that has been a shining light of international cooperation for the last 20 years.  The same ISS that has been the platform for ground breaking medical research.  The same ISS that has developed the technology that runs our modern world.  This invaluable asset is key to both the commercialization of low earth orbit and our deep space exploration ambitions. Much like the cancellation of the shuttle program, ending support for the ISS would leave a hole in our human spaceflight program and would be devastating to our local economy.

That is why we need your help.  Congress needs to hear from our community that human space flight is important, not just to the aerospace industry, but to educators, small business owners and all other facets of our economy.  And it must be made clear that creating a gap in our human spaceflight capabilities is unacceptable.

As I mentioned, CSE will be making its 27th annual trip to Washington, D.C., this May.  We would like to invite you on this year’s trip.  Please consider joining us, if your schedule allows, or sending someone from your organization.  If you or no one in your organization will be able to make the trip, please consider sponsoring one of our student travelers.  These students’ passion for aerospace profoundly impacts our congressional representatives. A sponsorship of $1,000 per student is money well spent.

The schedule of events for the trip is as follows:

  • Tuesday, May 15th – Travelers Arrive; Briefing 6-8 PM
  • Wednesday, May 16th – Meetings on the Hill; Congressional Reception 5:30-7:30 PM
  • Thursday, May 17th – Meetings on the Hill
  • Friday, May 18th – Travel Home

You may book hotel rooms at a low rate through our hotel block.  We will be staying at the Palomar Hotel.  Our room block website is available, or you can book by calling 877-866-3070 and make your reservation under “2018 Citizens for Space Exploration”.

Also, make sure to register as a traveler on our trip registration page.  Attached you will find trip information, hotel details,  a schedule of events, details on how to purchase a CSE shirt from Land’s End, and other pertinent information.
