Laura L. Hopkins
Vice President, Human Resources, Lockheed Martin Space
Laura Hopkins is the vice president of Human Resources (HR) for Lockheed Martin Space. In this role, she integrates and advances business and people strategies, leading all aspects of Space HR workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and succession planning, professional, technical and leadership development, performance management, total rewards, and labor relations. Ms. Hopkins is a recognized HR and global business leader with more than 20 years of experience achieving strategic business priorities and has been with Lockheed Martin Corporation since April 2013.
Before her time at Space, she held multiple leadership roles across the corporation. She was the vice president of Human Resources for Enterprise Operations, advancing Lockheed Martin’s business through human capital strategies and solutions. Prior to that, she was the vice president of Talent for Lockheed Martin, where she was responsible for leading talent strategies, processes and governance for talent acquisition, talent management, learning and development, and performance management for 114,000 employees. She also led HR for Aeronautics Sustainment Operations, successfully shaping people strategies that enabled business transformation into an organization structured around critical capabilities. In January 2015, she was the director of Global Talent and Organizational Capability, where she was responsible for providing overall leadership for the development and implementation of integrated talent initiatives across talent management and succession planning, leadership and professional development, executive coaching, organizational design, and change management. She also served as the director of Global Talent Acquisition and was responsible for talent acquisition strategy for experienced professionals, represented and college recruiting, workforce operations, global mobility, and workforce strategy.
Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Ms. Hopkins held various leadership positions in HR and Corporate Governance across numerous industries including manufacturing, technology, aerospace, financial services, and communications at Western Union Co., Avaya Inc., AlliedSignal/Honeywell, and Qwest Communications/CenturyLink.
Ms. Hopkins is passionate about creating work environments and communities where every individual has opportunities to achieve their career potential and highest level of performance. She is also focused on enabling our future talent pipeline, empowering and inspiring students, and strengthening education. While Chair of the Dallas Fort Worth Aerospace Consortium, she led the development of an industry focused STEM game app that enabled students to learn about career opportunities in aerospace. She has served on the board for Girls Inc. and on the i4CP Leadership Council. She led the development and implementation of a successful STEM high-school internship program, in partnership with Project Lead the Way. She has a master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Nebraska.
