A native of Colorado Springs, Kevin O’Neil has balanced his entrepreneurial efforts with a commitment to paying it forward. Mr. O’Neil launched his first company in 1982 and graduated cum laude from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 1989.

Kevin is a multifaceted business entrepreneur with a wide business portfolio that ranges from residential and commercial real estate development to aero and cyberspace technology. Inherent in each of his ventures is a community development component, whether economic growth through bringing new jobs and companies to the Pikes Peak region or support of local charities and non-profits in the form of volunteering his financial and business expertise.

As an entrepreneur, Mr. O’Neil owns diversified holdings through The O’Neil Group Company. Some of his developments and acquisitions over the past 30 years include ownership of a medical waste disposal company, retail lighting and graphic arts stores; commercial, industrial, and multi-family housing complexes, and a property management company. He has expanded his portfolio to enable individuals and groups to investment in large purchases. Prior to 2000, Mr. O’Neil spent 20 years in the retail, commercial and residential textile business taking advantage of Colorado’s housing boom in the 1980s. The last textile company sold became a division of Home Depot.

Mr. O’Neil purchased Braxton Technologies, LLC in 2008 through The O’Neil Group Company. Braxton is Mr. O’Neil’s cornerstone for new industry and future growth, and six more defense companies were added over the last 12 years. In 2016 Mr. O’Neil launched the Catalyst Campus for Technology & Innovation in downtown Colorado Springs. The Catalyst Campus community is a geographical area of more than two acres and physical space of 210,000 square feet, where various sectors of advanced industry (including aerospace and defense, technology and information, and advanced manufacturing) are co-located to collaborate on innovative ideas and opportunities that promote technological advancement and, ultimately, the creation of high-skilled, high-paying jobs.

Catalyst Campus benefits from public-private partnerships with Comcast, the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) as well as AFRL, NORAD, NORTHCOM, Space Force, Air Force, Army, and Navy. Catalyst Campus is home to more than a dozen companies and technology organizations, including two non-profits – The Center for Technology, Research, and Commercialization (CTRAC) and Catalyst Campus Technology Institute (CCTI).

Mr. O’Neil is passionate about engaging local students in the engineering field and encouraging them to stay in Colorado Springs to take advantage of local opportunities for education and training. This endeavor includes a partnership he has formed with the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in which he has created substantial scholarship funds, as well as volunteering his time and Braxton’s resources for speaking engagements to middle and high school students.

Some of Mr. O’Neil’s accomplishments include being a 2016 Colorado Technology Association’s APEX awards nominee, as well as the winner of the 2019 Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance’s Business Citizen of the Year.
