Kait Schwartz is the Director at the American Petroleum Institute (API) Colorado. Kait spends her day advocating for many of Colorado’s largest oil & natural gas operators. She inherently believes these operators are the key to our mutual climate goals.
Before API, Kait graduated with a degree from Clemson University. Post-graduation, she worked on several campaigns and consulted on policy issues in the Colorado state senate. Eventually, she was fortunate enough to land a job with a regulatory consulting firm in Denver working for Antero Resources. Next, she moved on to EnCana Oil & Gas working in the Eagle Ford and Permian plays. Most recently, Kait ran government relations and policy for PDC Energy, where she was responsible for developing PDC’s positions and engagement strategies on state government issues, primarily legislative and executive branches in Texas and Colorado.
Kait has a lengthy background in politics and regulatory work, but she is most proud of her mentorship and civic engagement work. She has started groups to support other young, Type I Diabetics in learning to cope with the disease during difficult phases of life. She currently serves on the board for the Colorado Children’s Campaign where she works to advocate for children through policy work.
In her free time, Kait spends time with her husband, three children, and a dog. They love spending time outdoors hiking, boating, and doing anything else that will assist in burning off endless amounts of toddler energy. On Saturdays during the fall, you can often find them cheering for Kait’s Alta Mata, the Clemson Tigers.
