The mission of government is a large and complex one. One that takes a large amount of coordination and cooperation. Many departments and organizations do a lot of great work, and many deserve to be recognized. The nominees are an important part of our government and are worthy of additional recognition in their contribution to society.


Area Agency on Aging, a program of Denver Regional Council of Governments - WINNER

Denver Regional Council of Governments or DRCOG’s Area Agency on Aging has taken an innovative lead in addressing the growing trend of older adults who do not have access to basic living needs. In 2017, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare awarded AAA a $4.5 million grant to help bridge the gap between medical services and community-based services. The $4.5 million grant will help AAA build the screening tool to assess patients before they leave a medical or clinical setting and connect them to community-based providers in their area.


Center for Technology, Research and Commercialization

The Center for Technology, Research and Commercialization (C-TRAC), a Colorado Springs 501(c)3 economic development nonprofit located at the Catalyst Campus is a leader of the regional innovation ecosystem in central Colorado. C-TRAC brings together government, industry, and academia in programs that enable real-world, in-person, and virtual collaboration, supporting the government by guiding technology transfer from government laboratories to the commercial market, and vice versa.

Serve Colorado

Serve Colorado has shown that it’s a Champion in Industry through their innovative use of the State Service Plan. The plan is a requirement of the Corporation for National and Community Service, but Serve Colorado is the first in the nation to incorporate other streams of service (AmeriCorps, NCCC, and VISTA) and actual metrics to ensure the goals of the plan are completed. The 2018-2020 Colorado State Service Plan serves as the roadmap in helping Colorado communities find sustainable solutions to their growing and diverse needs that national and community service.
