Denver Scholarship Foundation has announced that Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, will headline its Annual Gala, on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center. An exclusive VIP event will begin at 4:30 p.m. at J.P. Morgan Private Bank followed by a general event cocktail reception at the Hyatt beginning at 5:30 p.m. The dinner and the program will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Presented by JPMorgan Chase, DaVita, and Mike and Patty Starzer, the evening will feature an armchair conversation with Jamie Dimon, hosted by local executive, Kent Thiry, the CEO of DaVita. Dimon is the Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, the largest bank in the United States by assets, and is widely regarded as one of the most successful and influential business leaders in the world. The interactive discussion will center on the critical role of higher education, including technical and career training, as the path toward an educated workforce and economic growth for Denver and Colorado.

Inc. magazine is out today with the Inc. 5000, its latest annual list of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. Overall, 113 Colorado companies made the Inc. 5000 list for 2017, down from 126 last year, 132 in 2015 and 122 in 2014. And 13 Colorado businesses have made the elite top 500 ranking. That's down from 15 in 2016 and 14 in 2015 and matches 2014's 13.

Business Roundtable expressed shock this week over the violent attacks in Charlottesville, Va., mourned the loss of life, and condemned racism. "The CEOs of Business Roundtable will never accept such intolerance and hate. We will continue to build our companies around the principles of respect, trust and equal opportunity to all our employees," BRT Chairman Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, and Joshua Bolten, BRT President & CEO, said in a statement. "The business community will build on our strong record of leadership to stand against racism to promote equality and acceptance." Subsequently, two presidential advisory groups with CEO members - the Manufacturing Council and the Strategy and Policy Forum - were disbanded.

Colorado has jumped into the top 10 in a ranking of the states most attractive for aerospace manufacturing. Colorado is tied for eighth with Texas in PricewaterhouseCoopers' 2017 Aerospace Manufacturing Attractiveness rankings. The state finished at No. 13 last year.

The trade deficit may be the most misunderstood issue between politicians and economists, says Jim Glassman, managing director and head economist for commercial banking at JPMorgan Chase & Co.
"We should view trade deficits as a sign of future hope," Glassman said Tuesday. He was in Parker to speak at accounting firm BKD LLC's annual conference for its clients and business partners. He spoke with the Denver Business Journal after the meeting about the state of the economy, NAFTA negotiations and the Fed's next move.
