January 30  – Robin Wise – Launch My Career Colorado Robin Wise

Robin Wise, President & CEO of Junior Achievement – Rocky Mountain, Inc., joins us to discuss the Launch My Career Colorado web tool. The web tool is aimed at high school students to help them plan for their educational and financial futures. Robin’s experience working with students in Junior Achievement provides a unique perspective on their expectations.

 

January 31 – Operation Stimulus – Logistics Careers

Operation Stimulus is both a forum and a conference which includes high school and college students pursuing careers in transportation. Our guests are key leaders in logistics, Bob Forshay, Supply Chain Architect, and Derrick Knudsen, Executive Recruiter for Ajilon. They will speak with students at the Operation Stimulus event about professional development and education and best practices for a job search in logistics.

 

February 1 – Stephanie Veck – Workforce Development

Stephanie Veck, Director of the Colorado Workforce Development Council, talks with us about TalentFOUND and progress toward closing the skills gap in Colorado. We’ll also hear from Colorado BioScience Association.  (LIVE 4100)

 

February 2 – Carol Carter – GlobalMindED

Carol Carter, Founder and Executive of GlobalMindED, joins us to discuss innovation and entrepreneurship, why new graduates must be Workplace Entrepreneurs, and how colleges can promote that ability. Carol talks with Eric Glustrom, Founder and President of Watson University; Bree Langemo, J.D., President of The Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative; and Dominque Tucker, a Master of Science student who will share her experiences.

 

February 3 – Peter Moore – VITAL for Colorado

Peter Moore, President and CEO of VITAL for Colorado, joins us to talk about energy development in the state. Peter welcomes Tracee Bentley, Executive Director of the Colorado Petroleum Council. Tracee and host Peter Moore will discuss the landscape for oil and gas in 2017 and issues pertinent to the day.

January 23  – Latino Leadership Institute – BRIDGE Act
Joelle Martinez, Executive Director of the Latino Leadership Institute at the University of Denver, joins us to discuss concerns that Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) might be repealed under a Trump Administration. Similarly, we’ll discuss the proposed BRIDGE Act (Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream and Grow our Economy) which will provide temporary relief from deportation and work authorization to undocumented youth. 
 
January 24 – Meredith Badler – Colorado Business Committee for the Arts
Meredith Badler, Program Manager for Colorado Business Committee for the Arts (CBCA), joins us to discuss the Business for the Arts Awards. These statewide awards recognize outstanding arts and business partnerships, honoring both individual leaders and companies for their engagement with and support of the arts. There are 14 finalists this year across 5 different categories, to be awarded at the CBCA Awards Luncheon on March 15.
 
January 25 – Jeff Wasden, COBRT – Manufacturing Matters
Colorado Business Roundtable brings together leaders in manufacturing with educators who are training the next generation of makers. Today’s show is a glimpse into our Manufacturing Matters event which will be starting at the same time. We’ll launch the statewide manufacturing coalition, Dream It Do It Colorado, with Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne. At the event, we’ll also start our COBRT Author Series with Alvaro E. Espinosa and have a happy hour. Tune in to hear from speakers and guests live from ICOSA Event Center.
 
January 26 – Legislative Preview
We take a look at the issues on the minds of our state legislators, two weeks into the 71st General Assembly convened in the Colorado legislature. We will review Governor John Hickenlooper’s State of the State Address and share an interview with Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne. We also check-in with some of our state congressional delegates about their goals for this year. 
 
January 27 – Andrea Young – Colorado Technology Association
Colorado Technology Association (CTA) leads the network of companies that propel Colorado's economy with technology. We'll talk with Andrea Young, CEO of Colorado Technology Association, about the upcoming C-Level at Mile High. Greg Bashaw is Executive Director of the Colorado MicroBusiness Alliance (CMBA), which is both a resource and a voice for tiny businesses. Greg’s guest is a legal resource in the business community. His guest is attorney Justin Vaughn who works with several small businesses and is the former Board Chair of the Highlands Ranch Chamber of Commerce. They will discuss issues that concern microbusinesses.

January 17 – Jeff Wasden, COBRT – Manufacturing in Colorado     
Colorado Business Roundtable brings attention to manufacturing in Colorado. We will talk with leaders in manufacturing in our state and share the importance of workforce development in the manufacturing industry. From Colorado Community College System, we'll be joined by Sarah Heath, Assistant Provost - State Career and Technical Education Director and Jennifer Jasinowski, Program Director for Skilled Trades & Technical Sciences. We’ll also tell you about the Manufacturing Matters event to be held January 25, where we’ll launch the statewide manufacturing coalition, Dream It Do It Colorado with Lt. Gov. Donna Lynne.

January 18 – Doug Draper – Denver Transportation Club
Doug Draper, Committee Chairman for Operation Stimulus, tells us about the upcoming 36th annual logistics conference, The Future of Transportation: Work Smarter, Not Harder. Coming up February 2-4, 2017, the conference brings undergraduate students from schools across North America to Denver to participate in a case completion. Together with the Denver Transportation Club, Operation Stimulus awards the Terry Priest Scholarship to deserving students through its endowment and continuing support from sponsors.  

January 19 – Paul Bergman – Denver Export Assistance Center  
Paul Bergman, Director of the United States Commercial Service – Denver Export Assistance Center, joins us as a guest host. Paul introduces us to key players in Denver who work together to help make exporting easy and profitable for businesses of all sizes.

January 20 – Peter Moore – VITAL for Colorado
Peter Moore, President and CEO of VITAL for Colorado, joins us to discuss the importance of energy production in our state. January 10 – DORA – Financial Literacy         
Jill Sarmo from the Division of Securities, Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA), talks with Natriece Bryant with the Banking and Financial Services Divisions about financial literacy. DORA’s SeniorSafe program now includes a program designed to teach financial professionals how to spot elder financial abuse. We’ll discuss efforts to provide information on financial literacy through life stages - two initiatives, Smart$tart and $tepUp – that will launch in March.

January 11 – Andrew Moriarty – Immigration Reform  
Andrew Moriarty of FWD.us joins Jeff Wasden, President of the Colorado Business Roundtable and a member of the new statewide coalition called Coloradans for Immigration Reform, to discuss current efforts to help pass comprehensive immigration reform. We will talk with Brithany Gutierrez, 18-year-old Colorado State University sophomore, about her experience with DACA (Deferred Action Childhood Arrivals). We’ll hear from Susana M. Muñoz, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Higher Education, Ethnic Studies Faculty Associate, Colorado State University and Elias G. Quiñonez, MA, CSU Colorado Challenge Counselor, The Colorado Challenge, Colorado Department of Higher Education.

January 12 – Edgar Johansson – Aerospace Advocate
Edgar Johansson, COBRT Aerospace Advocate, joins us to discuss progress in Colorado’s aerospace industry. His guests are Rene Simard, Executive VP and Chief of Military Affairs at the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, and Roger McNamara, Director, Launch Abort and Service Module System on the Orion project for Lockheed Martin. They’ll discuss aerospace and defense as it relates to Aurora’s development, and they discuss progress on Orion.

January 13 – Kristen Muzzy – Manufacturing
Kristen Muzzy, Executive Vice President of Business Development for Leading2Lean, advocates for manufacturing progress in Colorado and nationwide. Her guest is Janet Colvin, Manufacturing Pathways Campus Coordinator for the Community College of Denver and Women in Manufacturing board member.
