LEADERSHIP. REACH. RESULTS.
June 18, 2019

Thank you to everyone who supported and came to the Vicente Fox event this past week. We appreciate MSU Denver's partnership on this event and were honored to hear from Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox. To view more photos, please click here
Hosted by Metro State University President, Janine Davidson, we would like to invite you to join us June 28th from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm at St. Cajetans on MSU Denver's campus to discuss the Colorado Compact. We will be hearing from Keynote Speaker Senator Michael Bennet followed by a panel of key industry representatives.

We have a great opportunity to show that Colorado is above partisan politics and set the tone nationally by supporting the principles the business community stood behind when the Colorado Compact was first released in 2012. This year, we are working with New American Economy in coordination with Colorado Business Roundtable on the Colorado Compact expansion. New American Economy is a bipartisan coalition of business and political leaders from all 50 states who believe that immigration is critical to our country's ability to grow and compete in a global economy. The Colorado Business Roundtable COBRT, the state affiliate of the National Business Roundtable (BRT), is the premier advocate for proactive, pro-business legislation that strengthens the economy and allows businesses to grow and thrive in Colorado and the region.

A proposed ballot initiative that would fully repeal one of the most consequential and controversial provisions in the Colorado Constitution can proceed, the state's Supreme Court has determined. In a decision issued Monday, June 17, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Proposed Initiative 3, a measure submitted to the Secretary of State's Office in January, meets the so-called single-subject requirement for statewide ballot initiatives, and can now move forward.

Jeremy Haefner is moving up in the ranks at the University of Denver after being named the schools 19th chancellor Thursday, having previously served as DU's provost and executive vice chancellor. "The University of Denver is an extraordinary private university known for its mission to serve the public good," Haefner said in a news release. "It is a place where students receive an excellent, holistic education that prepares them for life and careers in the 21st century. It is a place where faculty are world-class teachers-scholars-practitioners, and where the staff play an essential role supporting students and faculty."

Earlier this month Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed SB19-216, creating the High School Innovative Learning Pilot Program. Thanks to the leadership of Senator Jeff Bridges and Representative Shannon Bird, and the work of Colorado Succeeds, this next generation learning program will expand innovative learning opportunities for high school students and remove seat-time funding barriers for participating schools.

CSU Global builds on its mission to advance student success in a global society, invest in human capital, expand the state economy, and enhance the quality of life for citizens in the state of Colorado and beyond through an innovative hiring initiative that targets rural Colorado applicants.

Just as CSU Global online degrees have allowed students and graduates to continue their education and achieve their goals from wherever they may live, CSU Global seeks to provide employment opportunities for qualified Coloradans that live outside of city centers. Through targeted outreach, CSU Global is recruiting multiple fully-remote and full-time Associate Enrollment Counselor positions, which will give successful candidates the opportunity to live, work, and play within their rural communities.  Additionally, successful candidates are able to complete their Bachelor's degree (or an additional degree) at no cost to them.

Please feel free to share this opportunity with your rural Colorado networks.

Business Roundtable CEOs traveled to the White House today for a meeting with President Trump and top Administration officials to discuss trade, tariffs and immigration. In a CNBC interview, Chairman Jamie Dimon, Chairman & CEO of JPMorgan Chase, called the meeting "productive" in terms of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). "We are going to do everything we can to get that deal done," Dimon said. "It's very important for the United States, very important for the economy." The Roundtable also released a statement on the meeting: "Business Roundtable CEOs and President Trump had a productive discussion about shared goals of continuing robust U.S. economic growth, reforming our broken immigration system, addressing China's unfair trade and investment practices, and passing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to preserve and strengthen North American trade."
