U.S. Rep. Ed Perlmutter plans to announce Tuesday that he will end his run for Colorado governor just three months after the Arvada Democrat began it, according to three sources close to the campaign.

The sixth-term lawmaker also won't seek re-election in Colorado's 7th Congressional District; a move likely to bring a sigh of relief to the three Democratic state lawmakers who already have declared for his left-leaning seat, which includes the Denver suburbs of Thornton and Lakewood.

Gov. John Hickenlooper announced that Marguerite Salazar will be the new executive director of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. Salazar is currently Colorado's Insurance Commissioner. She replaces Joe Neguse who last month announced his resignation. Salazar begins her role as DORA's executive director on July 24, 2017.

Every broker-deal and investment adviser in Colorado needs to have a cyber security plan or they could find themselves in trouble with the state's securities commissioner.

A pilot program by the U.S. Department of Transportation on Monday started giving six girls a week-long series of behind the scenes tours of Denver's biggest transportation networks.

The DOT's inaugural Career Days Discovery program, supported by former U.S. DOT Secretary Ray LaHood, who served from 2009 until 2013, aims to give girls and young women an introduction to jobs they may not normally consider, said Keller Hayes, the DOT's small business services representative in Denver.

President Donald Trump will seek to highlight his economic agenda with a series of theme weeks focused on domestic policy, part of an effort to shift focus by a White House besieged by the investigations into Russian election meddling and struggling to pass a health-care bill.

The effort will kick off Monday with "Made in America" week, with the president championing companies that build products in the U.S. On Monday, the administration has invited firms from all 50 states to show their domestically produced products at the White House. On Wednesday, Trump plans to call on U.S. companies to make more of their products at home. He also is expected to travel to Virginia during the weekend for the commissioning of the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier.

This week, President Trump kicked off "Made in America Week." At the Department of the Interior, we are taking this opportunity to promote and strengthen America's tradition of outdoor recreation on public lands. The all-American outdoor experience was the idea of visionaries like President Theodore Roosevelt, and has been carried on by the federal government and Congress for years. It could not have been possible without help from philanthropic foundations, American businesses, and thousands of public-private partnerships across our public lands.
