Great Denver Cleanup

MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND PLAN YOUR CLEANUP PROJECTS NOW

What is the Great Denver Cleanup?

The annual, 1-day, citywide cleanup sponsored by Denver Solid Waste Management.

Why should we participate?

This is the 1 day each year when Denver residents can clean up their properties – or neighborhoods – and haul all their unwanted junk & yard waste to a free disposal site.

Where are the sites this year?

See a list of the 14 drop sites (PDF) or see a list on Google Maps.

What if we want to hold our cleanup at another time?

  1. Cleanups can be held at other times during the year.  Most cleanups occur on weekends.  Since weekend trash collection is not available, the debris is not collected until the following work week.  We do make every effort to prioritize the pickup during the week following the cleanup.
  2. Your cleanup boundaries will be limited to a maximum of 15 blocks per cleanup because those blocks or alleys will have excess trash to collect and the trucks will spend more time in those alleys than normal, thereby impacting the remainder of their assigned route.

Is there a limit to the how much residents can bring to a collection site?

No. There is no limit on the quantity of acceptable items that can be disposed of during the cleanup hours. Residents are encouraged to return as many times as necessary.

While Denver Solid Waste Management provides Extra Trash Service for bulky items every 4 weeks, the amount of debris each household can set out is limited.

What is acceptable at a Drop Site?
Household items, appliances without Freon, recyclable items & yard waste are accepted.
Not accepted: electronics (TVs, computers, etc.), hazardous waste, clothing, building materials or automotive parts – including tires.

Contractors’ and commercial waste will not be accepted.

Will trash bags be available for cleanups again this year? Yes, a limited number of bags will be available for pre-registered cleanups, while supplies last.
