LEADERSHIP. REACH. RESULTS.
August 14, 2018

Colorado Business Roundtable (COBRT) is honored to work with some of Colorado's top CEOs and companies. Business owners and leaders are facing complex challenges, increased competition, changing workforce, among others. COBRT works tirelessly to improve the business climate across industries so companies can grow, innovate, and thrive. We are fortunate to partner with some many different organizations, chambers, assocations, and community leaders that share the vision of ensuring Colorado remains the best place to do business.

This month's COBRT Minute, in addition to highlighting the upcoming View from the Top, is a recognition of the myriad of issues you all face daily. We can't thank you enough for what you do every day to provide outstanding service and products for all Coloradans. The commitment you make to your employees to help power your companies forward is significant, impactful, and a game changer.  Thank you for allowing us to support, serve, and collaborate with each of you!

The Denver Business Journal and Colorado Business Roundtable are pleased to present A View From The Top CEO Panel Luncheon. Join Steven Demetriou, CEO of Jacobs Engineering; Hikmet Ersek, CEO of Western Union; and Denny Marie Post, CEO of Red Robin as they discuss challenges and opportunities they face in leading fortune companies.

This year's event will be Monday, August 20th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at CU South Denver.

VF Corp. - maker of global apparel brands such as The North Face and JanSport - will relocate its headquarters from Greensboro, N.C. to the Denver metro area in early 2019, creating some 800 jobs as it consolidates its corporate offices and those of five of its brands in a state that rapidly is becoming a focal point of the American outdoor-retail industry.

As Denver neighborhoods grow and evolve over the course of two decades, they could do so under the guidance of a new package of wide-ranging plans. Denver's newly released "Denveright" draft plans would help steer policy on commercial and residential development, see billions of dollars invested in expansions of the city's parks system, trails and sidewalks, and scale up the city's public transit network over the next 20 years.

A proposed increase in corporate and individual income tax that would create a $1.6 billion annual boost in education funding will be on the November ballot, Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced Thursday. Amendment 73, as the proposal is now known, is the first of seven ballot initiatives submitted by state residents to be cleared as having enough signatures to go before voters in the Nov. 6 election. Of the 179, 390 signatures submitted by organizers, 130,022 were determined to be valid - far more than the 98,492 needed to go up for a statewide vote.

The White House's push to create a U.S. Space Force is viewed with some excitement in Colorado, where military bases and companies have longstanding ties to the military space programs. U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, before the National Space Council on Thursday, committed the administration to establishing the sixth branch of the nation's military in just 18 months.

A slew of approved and potential tax measures for Denver's November ballot are poised to test the tax tolerance of one of the state's friendliest counties for spending measures.

Mark Sirangelo, who just concluded his career as the head of aerospace giant Sierra Nevada Corporation's Space Systems, is joining the University of Colorado Boulder as an entrepreneur-in-residence beginning this month. Bobby Braun, dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, announced today that Sirangelo will join CU Boulder after nearly 10 years at SNC.
